11.27.09: Wahoo's Sticker 'rules'

Wahoo's, a popular surf themed casual restaurant here in Orange County, has a tradition of 'allowing' customers to add their stickers to the walls (and tables, and floor and in one case even the toilet seat).

But my favorite of them all?

The sticker that asks for no stickers.

11.25.09 The Disneyland Band

 

The Disneyland Band is one of my favorite experiences at Disneyland.  The tradition and nostalgia of it is charming and the lowering of the flag ceremony is a downright tear-jerker.  

If you've never seen the ceremony try to time it so you're on Main Street as the sun goes down.  You can see the little last sunshine coming through at the top of the bandleaders hat.

Although I am an East-Coast transplant, I grew up spending the summers at the beaches of New York, bodysurfing and dreaming of exotic California venues such as The Wedge at Newport Beach.

A few years ago I made a trip out to Memphis to check out Graceland.  I don't think there was nearly as much memorabilia as there are is at Azteca Mexican restaurant in Garden Grove.  

Makes me think of Mojo Nixon's song "Elvis is everywhere!"  Because at Azteca... HE IS!

Ever wonder about the inside of an OC skateboard shoe empire? This is Etnies (Sole Technology) lobby. It's the skateboard chairs and table that really make me love it. And just to show you there's more fun to be found at this place...here is another little corner...

9.18.09 Christmas cheer in Novemeber

There's something about a pink Christmas tree, in the lobby of a chain bookstore, in the sweltering heat, weeks before Thanksgiving, that kind of takes the "cheer" out of the Holidays. 

Ah! Who am I kidding. Bring on Christmas, I love it all.
